Gabapentin made the Controlled Substance’s list in VA

As of July 1, 2019, the prescription drug Gabapentin is now listed as a “controlled substance” in the state of Virginia.

Short article on the “why”:  States are considering adding the drug Gabapentin to the list of controlled substances.

I was shocked to see the sign at my Walmart pharmacy.  I’ve been taking the drug for close to 17 years due to the peripheral neuropathy I suffered in both hands and legs/feet.  Now, it’s a controlled substance.

What does that mean for me?

It means:

  • I have to show ID whenever I go to pick up a prescription;
  • I’m only allowed 3 days prior to the actual filled date to pick up; and
  • I’m only allowed six refills.

Sucks, I know.  Folks just need to buy themselves a bag of weed and be happy!
